Ep.15 Devon Harris: Keep On Pushing

Devon Harris is – a military officer, an author, and a motivational speaker. He was also one of the founding members of the Jamaica national bobsled team, which first competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta (shoutout to Canada!).

Hard Work Vs. Not Quitting

I sometimes get confused between working hard and not quitting. For me, these two phrases used to mean the same thing; if you are working hard, that means you should not let failure stop you. But, I’ve come to realize that working hard does not mean you keep doing the same thing again and again until you run yourself to the ground.

It actually means working hard and persevering in life’s marathon to get to the final destination, which may involve trying some things, failing at them, iterating on our course, and finding a path that works.

The only time you quit is when you stop moving forward. Changing your ways, methodologies, or approach is not quitting – its just plain execution.

If you’re looking for an example from someone who has lived through this while making history – then this episode is for you.

“You Can’t short cut the system you have to pay the price…..There is always a price to success”.- Devon Harris
